Nadia Marie is a multidisciplinary artist from Atlanta, Georgia, whose work explores rites of passage, memory, and cultural representations of women in the American South.
Her major projects — including SEVEN, The Marriage Project, and Sisters For Life — use photography, performance, and shrine-based installations to examine girlhood, marriage, and Southern identity.
Her photography has been exhibited at Yale University, Burnaway, The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, and is part of the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection. Her performance work has been presented internationally at the Aranya Theater Festival in Qinhuangdao, China.
As a musician, Nadia Marie was named Songwriter of the Year by Creative Loafing in 2019 and received Best Album of the Year with a feature spread in Mainline Magazine.
She has worked with Sony Music, walked in New York Fashion Week, composed and performed original scores for its runway shows, and was commissioned to write and record a 400-page scripted audio memoir for iHeartRadio — a project later acquired by Netflix.
Her work has earned fellowship and graduate program offers from thirteen prestigious institutions, including Brown University, Yale University, Columbia University, CalArts, RISD, SAIC, and Parsons/The New School.
